Kudos to the Witch Hunt, the script feels good to read.Maybe it's the fact the R07 knew the VN would be read by overseas audiences since the beginning that influenced him ? The story depicts some issues like homosexuality and gender identity with tact I haven't seen in a lot of mainstream Japanese media. There are some really fun moments in the VN When something funny happens, it is really funny. The worldbuilding isn't bad, with all the systems presented and working together.Which is handwaved/explained in the character tips as we don't know if it's their real appearance or their avatar in the virtual world Now I'm just hoping future episodes can deliver on that setup. Overall I really liked it, a even if huge part of it was just dedicated to setting up the world. I'm hoping Miyao grows on me as the main character in future episodes, I wasn't a huge fan of him in this one.Īs for mysteries, there are a bunch of conspiracies running around and crashing agains't each other, and I kinda lost track of it by the end, will probably have to reread it at some point to see if I can make sense of it. Not a big fan of the multiple personalities thing, the game made a big deal out of how common it is Gauntlet Knights, and I just know it's going to be super important in the future and I already don't like it. I liked most of the kid squad characters, Cairo squad and the nuns being the duds, but they didn't get much screentime, mainly just show up, do their gimmick and then be in the background. There wasn't any obvious "most of the main cast dies" thing, mostly just background characters and lots of sequel hooks hinted at, but at the same time, the world seems kinda screwed even if most of the main cast lives on. So the main question I had with the ending was if we're going to get a time repeating scenario like Higurashi and Umineko.
